2010-09-01 San Francisco Legislative Proposal Would Restrict Restaurant Toys to 200 Calorie Food Items BlogHer

Ban the toys if you want my kids would ask for Happy Meals even if they came without a toy. They actually enjoy that conglomeration of chemicals and processed food particles that McDonalds calls chicken nuggets. But as their PARENT, I make the CHOICE not to feed them that garbage except on extremely rare occasions, even though they often whine and beg. Not only that, I EXPLAIN to them WHY I dont allow them to have it. Thats really the problem here -- toys may be a marketing tool to encourage children to ask their parents for a product but ultimately its up to the parent to say NO, not the government to make laws banning toys or even ingredients.

The foods we favor have changed as technology has changed. A method of preserving food in glass containers was developed in the late 17th century. Canned food became available by 1813.

A bright red awning and vibrant window display on Fillmore Street mark the location of the local toy store. Originally at the Lee Heights shops, owner Sue Pyatts Kinder Haus Toys came to the neighborhood about four years ago, and it has been a perfect fit. Stocking a mix of toys, clothes, books and crafts, Kinder Haus is not only a wonderland for the little ones, but a one-stop shopping destination for anyone looking for presents. The store carries big-name brands, such as Lego and Playmobil, but also toys from lesser-known makers, including Plan, an ecologically sound company that makes wooden toys in Thailand from trees discarded during the rubber-making process.
