2008-08-01 NOVN Noven Pharmaceuticals Inc receives final FDA approval for Stavzor

Noven Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:NOVN), a speciality pharmaceutical company, reported on 30 July the receipt of final approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Stavzor (valproic acid delayed release capsules) in 125mg, 250mg and 500mg strengths for the treatment of bipolar disorder, seizures and migraine headaches.

The companys speciality pharmaceutical subsidiary, Noven Therapeutics LLC, will market and sell Stavzor. The product is anticipated to be launched in pharmacies in the second half of August. Reportedly, Stavzor soft gel capsules are small (up to 40 pct. smaller than Depakote and Depakote ER tablets at the 500 mg dosage strength) and easy to swallow, with an advanced enteric technology designed to reduce reflux and gastric irritability.
