Behind all the photo ops of politicians with dancers in traditional costumes and the dinners of ethnic food and drink there is a nasty fight brewing for a growing part of the electorate whose votes are up for grabs.

At first, for the 2006 election, the Tory approach was to merely make contact with large ethnic groups and attempt to build some trust and understanding by paying attention to cultural demands. But after their success in 2008, theyre targeting smaller communities too, and moving beyond the focus on ethnicity.

Have fruit (grapes, kiwis, apples, plums, etc. ) instead. What if you didnt have desserts at all If you did nothing else, and ate regular food in reasonable quantities but no desserts or candy you might well lose 3-4 pounds in a month. Think about it. Add it up. An average piece of pie or cake is 400 calories or so. If you have one every day thats 2,800 excess calories a week or 12,400 excess calories a month. It takes only 3,500 less to lose each pound. So eliminating 12,400 excess calories a month would add up to 3. 5 pounds gone.

When Martin hits the road with her husband and two children this summer for their first big driving trip, fast food is decidedly not on the menu. "We eat healthy at home. Why change on a road trip Well pack a ton of good food and snacks, and stop at local markets to buy groceries along the way. We plumped for Panzerotti ricotta e spinaci, or the less grandiose Ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese with cream sauce, and for me the almost poetic, Risotto con salmone affumicato e asparagi.

Scrimping on ingredients in pasta and rice dishes is a common restaurant dodge, hence I was delighted to find every forkful of my generous portion of creamy risotto liberally scattered with deliciously-crisp asparagus and plenty of fish, cooked to a flawless shade of dark pink.
