2010-03-08 Pirates In Paradise - Day 3 - EAST CAROLINA OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

The pig was removed from the ground where it had been roasting for the past six hours and everybody moved over to the dinner tables. We said a prayer and listened Hawaiian music while tables were dismissed to go to the buffet. We ate field green salad, pasta salad, macaroni salad, rolls, fish served with a macadamia nut cream sauce, fried chicken and of course, the roasted pig served over rice. For dessert there was banana cake with coconut frosting, chocolate cake and pineapple slices.

2010-03-04 Shake it up: Salts from around the globe dash to local shelves - Fall River, MA - The Herald News

Though the emerging salts of the world trend appears to be an outgrowth of modern prosperity and the gourmet food market, the obsession with the mineral dates back to the ancient world, during which time it was considered to be more precious than gold. Salt was the currency among Roman soldiers, and the word salary is a derivative of the word salt. Ancient Greeks coined the phase hes not worth his salt to describe slaves who were not worthy of trading for the bags of salty currency. According to the myriad of facts and salt lore on the Morton Salt Web site, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella sent Christopher Columbus off with a mandate to return with bags of salt.
