According to him, a total of 50 Gujarati students have returned home so far, but there were still 80 students in the college. 2008-06-05 Blending Cultures in the Melting Pot : NPR

I grew up being an American at school, an Indian at home and a Muslim in the prayer hall. I couldnt stand it when my mother packed samosas and mangoes in my lunch box. It was the food of foreigners. I secretly hoped that Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting, would never come. I had no idea how to explain it to the kids at school. Having pungent food in my lunch was bad enough, but not eating at all for religious reasons made me a total outcast.

A Muslim immigrant says he had a rough time fitting his ethnic and religious background into American culture when he was young. But the work of Woody Guthrie and others helped him see how identities could be blended.

2008-05-29 The Telegraph - Calcutta (Kolkata) Frontpage

In school The Primary Demonstration School, Kampala, which went up to Class VIII the last day of each term was always Picnic Day. It would be all play and no work. Groundsheets spread out to all corners of the field, music, party games and of course, the main attraction, food. This was a pooling of resources, with each of us taking along something, either bought or home-cooked.

Everyone brought picnic-friendly stuff; usually dryish and easy to pack. No runny gravies and curries or dal and rice, just snackish stuff, mainly. There were mainly Gujarati students in school so wed look forward to mouth-watering

2008-05-24 A thoroughbred punjabi

I love Indian food especially Punjabi food. I also love to have Gujarati food as some of my close friends are from Gujarat. When I am overseas, I miss India and Indian food a lot. I prefer to eat Italian or Chinese when I am abroad, unlike my mom, who is all for Indian food.

I believe that one should eat every thing of the food that keeps one healthy and fit. I firmly stand by Eat healthy and stay the best. Whatever you do, try refraining from eating food that is oily and fatty.

2008-05-24 Saylac Somalia News and Information

In the company of the tiny community of believers, the bulk of whom had modest homes sprinkled within an earshot of the Adhan (call to prayer) of the Soweto Mosque, our morning was thoroughly enjoyable. Talking to people, delivering our food parcels, and listening to their stories certainly helped the stomach grumbles that came with the scorching South African summer day of fasting.

The talk certainly did not lack punch, and although our bellies were crying out for nourishment, we definitely were not short of food for thought. After the compulsory prayers were concluded, Shiraz and I turned to each other and mulled over what wed just heard. We were impressed with the talk, yet saddened at the situation that befell us all as Muslims.
