Masterchef will be a kind of tribute to India and its multiple cuisines. The show will showcase different traditional Hindustani khaana. Expect to learn to cook healthy versions of Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali and South Indian dishes, using natural ingredients. Through the show, Akki wants to send a message to the bachchas that junk food is bad, and should be avoided.

Says a source, "During the shoot of Masterchef, Akshay revealed his love for desi food and how he relishes eating biryanis, tandoori chicken and parathas with his hands. He believes that everyones-- especially kids-- obsessed with junk food and in the bargain, miss out on tasting some great Indian dishes. Yes, the diversity occasionally makes us kill each other, usually over different religions or sub-religions. This is tragic and should never happen, but look at it this way: Sunnis, Buddhists, Roman Catholics, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Baptist Christians, Shias, Jews, Hindus and a whole lot of other groups live together in India. In Britain and Yemen two sects of the same religion were killing each other for decades. In Indonesia and Nigeria, people from two religions have been killing each other. The US and South Africa have seen huge problems over two skin colours. In Canada its over two languages. As an Indian, I laugh at these silly reasons for their conflicts -- two religions, two colours, two languages. I feel like saying "Hey guys, try a Jain, Gujarati-speaking, pyjama-kurta-wearing herbivore co-existing with a

2010-08-08 Please adjust. - Man-Woman - Relationships - Life and Style - The Times of India

It isnt unusual for parents in India to urge their daughters to stick around in abusive relationships. And the practice is prevalent among the upper classes more than anywhere else. "Sunday is no different from Monday," rues Dimple Vakharia, 38, as she supervises the cook in her kitchen, which overlooks a well-manicured garden in a Surati suburb. "Except for second Saturdays, when he goes to meet his spiritual guru near the Ahmedabad highway. He also has sex with female sex workers in the vicinity, he told me once. " Her eyes are limpid pools, fraught with helplessness, and you wonder where life went wrong for this beautiful, bright girl. 2010-08-07 The Hindu : Life and Style / Food : Chat over chatpata chaat

I have rarely eaten a chaat that I didnt love. So, when the Executive Chef at Hotel Gateway, Krishnakumar, casually invited me to the view in the rain, I thought he was asking me to enjoy the view of the monsoon drenched city from the hotels elevation atop the Pasumalai hillock. But to my delight, it turned out to be a chaat and snacks festival. And the title, he explained, meant the hotels The View restaurant getting soaked in the rain. Unfortunately, the city is yet to experience the seasons heavy showers. But who cares This is the monsoon month and its magical culinary journey lies in tickling the taste buds with a perfect combination of sweet and sour, saucy and tangy, spicy and crunchy food.
