AgriSA has said that Congo has signed a agreement with them that South African farmers can go farm there. Congos reasons are quite obvious because they import 95 pct. of their food produce. That is a lot, so they decided they wanted to bring in someone with the expertise of working African soil. And it makes sense for South African farmers to move onward as land distribution is taking many of their farms and the attacks on farmers will make it much saver for them to go where they are wanted. What that will mean for South Africa in the long term is hard to say because we really cannot loose more farmers

Until now, the government has been able to finance its vast debts locally, despite paying paltry interest rates even on longer-term borrowings. Remarkably, Japanese savers soak up some 95 pct. of their governments debt. Perhaps burned by the way stock prices and real estate collapsed when the 1980s bubble burst, savers would rather go for what they view as safe bonds, especially as gently falling prices make the returns go farther than would be the case in a more normal inflation environment.
