I put this in its own category because MTV (the network that used to be about music) loves reality shows. These types of shows are the ultimate junk food of reality TV. They generally center on different subjects (mostly teenagers or young-adults) in each episode and focus on different lifestyles. I give MTV credit for managing to come up with the concepts for all of their series. Whod have thought that watching over privileged teenagers getting spoiled rotten with a lavish sweet 16 party would make for good TV One of their recent series, Engaged and Underaged is about couples that are in their late teens/early 20s and getting married. I only caught one episode of it but I found it to be kind of depressing and dont plan on watching it in the future. www.cinemablend.com

CBS Newss Baghdad correspondent has expressed frustration over how the television networks -- presumably his own, in particular -- currently cover the war in Iraq. In an article posted on the website under the heading, "Covering Iraq: Trying to Connect," Correspondent Allen Pizzey writes that while the networks devoted much attention last week to 12 pets who were killed by tainted dog and cat food, the deaths of 12 human beings in Iraq would have gone unreported. "How 12 dead animals in a country the size of the U. S. rates with the sliding scale of mayhem here is what Im finding hard to gauge," Pizzey wrote. "When only 12 human bodies are found on any given morning in Baghdad with marks of the kind of torture the ASPCA would quite rightly have a pet owner in court for, it is judged as progress for the security plan. Scripps alone saw a 60 pct. spike in ad revenue in 2006, having performed exceptionally well in the digital space thanks to contextual retail ads on the microsites for its programming on HGTV and Food Network. And with commercial ratings still a major point of contention and debate going into May, the metrics from digital are becoming among the most favored data points for the networks to play up in their events and discussions with advertisers. adage.com
Several years back, our company had someone visiting it from one of our regional offices in Oregon. He had asked a couple of us where he could go to get some good seafood for dinner. We told him Red Lobster. The next day this gentleman comes back into work absolutely LIVID. He said he had never had such horrible food in his life and that what he had could never be considered seafood. Of course, where he was from they get "real" fresh seafood. The stuff we get isnt very fresh and usually the way it is prepared hides the true flavor with all of the heavy, buttery sauces and alfredo sauces. To this guy, Red Lobster was like Mrs. Pauls fish sticks to us. " www.pantagraph.com

As the fight against childhood obesity escalates, the issue of food advertising to children has come under increasing scrutiny. Policymakers in Congress, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and agencies such as the Institute of Medicine (IOM) have called for changes in the advertising landscape, and U. S. food and media industries are developing their own voluntary initiatives related to advertising food to children. To help inform this debate, the Kaiser Family Foundation today released the largest study ever conducted of TV food advertising to children. www.newsfood.com
The vast majority of the foods that kids see advertised on television today are for products that nutritionists would tell us they need to be eating less of, not more of, if were going to get a handle on childhood obesity, said Vicki Rideout of the Kaiser Family Foundation, which conducts health research. Overall, the foundations researchers monitored 13 television networks - Study looks tv food ads children
Since Bobby was one of the first on the Food Network, he has the best stories. The stories with "Grillin and Chillin" co-host, Jack McDavid were hysterical. I loved learning all the behind-the-scenes stuff and especially how Bobbys friends were shocked he did that first show. Viewers then get a look at all of his other Food Network shows--"Hot Off The Grill," "Boy Meets Grill," and finally to "Iron Chef," both the Japanese and the current one. www.allyourtv.com
