2009-06-08 Northwest Herald Training session on Mediterranean diets set for health care workers

Robert J. Reber, U of I Extension specialist in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, will discuss evolving thinking about a group of metabolic conditions called metabolic syndrome. This syndrome often precedes the development of Type 2 diabetes and other cardiovascular diseases. Reber will review research that suggests Mediterranean-type diets hold promise to prevent and reverse several of these conditions.

This is the final session in a series co-sponsored by the U of I Extension Nutrition and Wellness Development Team and the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
