According to the Preston Council Foodsafe scheme, the publicly-available star-ratings system for food premises, Tiffin Delight currently has two out of a possible five stars for hygiene.

The scheme was introduced to raise standards of food hygiene across Preston by allowing the public to see the ratings of the best and worst kitchens.

He was accused of failing to comply with a hygiene improvement notice served by Preston Councils environmental health officers.

This week, Burlingtons in Broughton, near Preston, was fined 3,000 and ordered to pay 1,897 costs for hygiene offences.

The scheme aims to help consumers choose where to eat out or shop for food by giving them information about the hygiene standards in pubs, restaurants, cafes, takeaways, hotels, supermarkets, and other places they eat out and buy food.

A rating of five indicates very good food hygiene standards, four means good, three is generally satisfactory, two shows improvement necessary, one is urgent improvement necessary and a zero rating is urgent improvement necessary.
