2010-06-26 Gas station food: Service stations are increasingly filling bellies as well as tanks

Over the last five years, revenue from made-to-order sandwiches at convenience stores almost all of which sell gasoline has increased 5 percent to 7 percent, said Tim Powell, an analyst with the Chicago food industry research firm Technomic. Thats a significant jump, Powell said, considering the recession flattened revenues across the board for food service businesses.

Said new customers often express surprise at finding better food fare next to sticks of gum and lottery tickets. Even longtime patrons have been caught off guard when they go inside, he said.

2010-06-25 Virginia Guard unit to return from Iraq early

On April 9, the soldiers began their mission escorting convoys of food and fuel. Smith estimated the unit had provided escort over 117,000 miles. First Lt. Patrick Wilson said the unit had suffered no casualties so far. The unit has awarded up to 40 badges for combat action, Smith said.

The early departure is unprecedented for the Virginia National Guard -- none of its units has had its Iraq deployment curtailed since U. S. -led forces invaded Iraq in 2003. But it does create some problems, according to Guard officials.

2010-06-17 NYC Food Truck Owners, Supporters Protest Strict Parking Rules for Food Trucks - Metropolis - WSJ

The main argument for Councilwoman Jessica Lappins recent attack on mobile food vendors revolves around their lawlessness with regard to parking regulations. She claims to seek change in the mentality that parking tickets are just a part of doing business, but does so in an inequitable manner, uninformed by fact. She curiously makes no mention of UPS, Coca-Cola and Verizon, among others, who paid usd. 107 million in parking fines to New York City in 2009 alone, according to MSNBC. These trucks rack up an average of 7,000 parking tickets every day. Moreover, big businesses are given fleet status and receive steep discounts on their fines.

2010-05-31 Juxtapositions play up the complexities of food and art at Griffin museum - The Boston Globe

So while the pictures have emotion, its not intrinsic and its slightly inhuman. Psychology doesnt draw Greenberg. Thats a bit of an opportunity lost. What museumgoer hasnt wondered about the thoughts that go through guards minds as they stand watch. Do they come to loathe the art they protect Cherish it all the more Simply become inured to it What food is for the rest of us a near-constant presence in our daily lives art is for these guards. The state of their appetite is a question of more than gustatory interest.

2010-05-29 CTV Calgary- Gulf oil spill now presumed largest in U. S. history - CTV News

Martin The Trucker. Look Im not playing around, it seems you have no clue what is happening. When the Top Caves In We all live in a Mafia neighborhood now. Delusional Enough To Believe That This Economic Recovery Is Real Well belive what you may . They have only shown you what they want you to see. Wake up. But heres the kicker BP didnt even have permits to drill that well in the first place. So look at the oil leak, not only are you polluting the entire gulf states but beyond up the Atlantic sea board. The USA gets 30 pct. of its food supply from the ocean and roughly half of that comes from the gulf. then consider all the crop lands with in 500 miles of the gulf coast. Plus the FACT that the 2009-10 food reserve for USA was grossly underestimated and food shortages are predicted for later in the year. Now think of the in coming
