This is a very loving family. Either TLC or Discovery Channel has had specials on them. In NO WAY is the State of Arkansas paying for the Duggar family. If anything, they add a lot to the states economy. It takes 5 or 6 older ones and their mom to do the shopping, then they all have to help stock their food pantry. I think they had at least 4 washers and dryers, and each child knows how to do the laundry, cook meals, and daily jobs. They are self sufficient, but live knowing that God is their source, they home school, and have recently built their own home, each one having their own tools and various jobs as to feel a part of the process. Each older child has a younger one to help out with dressing, chores etc. and they respect each other, put God and the needs of the others first, and that is what makes this family of

When I first arrived I missed a great number of things. Since then I have found some of them, but more importantly I finally realized that Brazil is not the US and vice-versa. I finally "got over it". and got over myself. Primarily I miss creature comforts we often take for granted in the US such as garbage disposals, clothes dryers, hot water at every fawcet, window screens, central a/c. I also miss inexpensive good wine, nonfat frozen yogurt shops, good Chinese, Mexican and Indian food, and stores such as Target and Trader Joes. People always assume that Brazil is a cheap place to live but its really not. Buying anything imported is cost prohibitive due to the 100 pct. -300 pct. (or more) mark-up.
