As I mentioned in my past article about food waste, the dish room saw plenty of whole salads and plates full of food tossed away. Students loaded up their trays with several plates of food, thus saving them from those pesky trips to get more. But now students have to walk back up to get more food, so they decide to say forget it. Besides reducing food waste, the dish room also uses less water to do dishes because we dont have to wash trays anymore.

Five cafes across the county are taking part in the pilot which will see 1,000 of the vouchers, worth and pound;5, exchanged for dishes featuring local foods.

An initiative to promote products produced in Gwynedd is expanding with a free local food voucher scheme.

The scheme requires the cafes to serve Welsh dishes or at least a version of a local recipe said Ms Gwyn.
