At a recent Tech Womens Club event, Kline was able to use his cookbook to benefit a good cause. Members of the math honor society Mu Alpha Theta from Cookeville High School, which includes Klines daughter, Victoria, recently lost the funding which allows them to attend statewide math competitions. On the day of the Womens Club event, Kline donated all proceeds from purchases of his book to benefit the honor society.

Long before owning his own bakery in Florida, Kline worked as a bus boy at a restaurant in Kissimmee where he would watch the French pastry chefs create their masterpieces. When 16-year-old Kline was preparing food at a wedding expo, Disney noticed his talent and brought him into their fold. He went to Disney University, where he learned from the best.

When I was growing up, my mother had shelves of cookbooks, many of them classics like "Joy of Cooking" by Irma Rombauer and "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" by Julia Child. But one of my favorites was "The Antoinette Pope School Cookbook. " Looking back, I think it appealed to me because, unlike Child and Rombauer, the authors photo showed Pope wearing long-sleeved gloves, an upsweep hairdo and, if Im remembering correctly, a mink stole around her shoulders. She didnt look like a woman who cooked; she looked like a woman who had a cook. And many of her dishes seemed to call for chafing dishes, which, along with her long gloves, seemed to bespeak a much more glamorous life than the one I was leading.
